Jess Linley Crowned Miss Nottingham 2010 By Miss England Katrina Hodge

06 May 2010

Description:

The Miss Nottingham 2010 Grand Final took place on Sunday 2nd May at the Nottingham Crowne Plaza, in front of a sell out crowd of over 250 guests.

29 girls took to the stage in a fashion show style final to compete for the title of Miss Nottingham and to represent the city in Miss England later this year.

The girls met with all the judges before the show for a relaxed pre-judging section, they then took to the catwalk wearing club wear and later in evening wear. The judging panel awarded marks for face & figure, personality, confidence & deportment; which helped them select the Final 10 who were then interviewed on stage.

The judging panel comprising of Miss Nottingham 2009 Tiffany Tyler, Katherine Taylor the features editor for Nottinghamshire Today based at the Evening Post, Phil Gibson & Joseph Bailey editors of Guide2Nottingham.com, Jane a representative of the Miss Nottingham photography sponsors, Angie Beasley the Miss England Organiser on behalf of Miss World and Lance Corporal Katrina Hodge the current Miss England.

Kate Solomons, owner of ModelZed Promotions and Organiser of Miss Nottingham also hosted the show and interviewed the top 10 giving the judges the opportunity to judge their confidence & interview techniques, from these scores the top 3 were decided.

In 3rd place was 23 year old Rachel Matthews, 2nd place was 20 year old Jaimelee Faulkner and the winner who will now take part in the Miss England Grand Finals was 21 year old Jessica Linley from Linton, Nottingham.

Additional awards on the night were the Miss Personality vote, which was voted for by the finalists and the winner was Mallory Green. Public Text vote winner was Penelope Kokkinou and Chloe Jones won the Miss Charity Award having raised a staggering £1,300 for Rainbows Children’s Hospice. The Miss Nottingham contest and finalists raised £4668 for Rainbows Childrens Hospice in Loughborough.

Chloe Jones, a Nottingham Trent University student who lost her leg in a hit and run accident just 6 months ago was an inspiration on stage, showing real presence and confidence. Choloe did not make the top 10 but said she thoroughly enjoyed the experience and thanked the organizers for giving her the opportunity.

Kate Solomons from ModelZed Promotions commented

"I was delighted when Chloe asked if she could re-enter to take part next year, saying she had so much fun and wants to do it all over again and hopefully by next year will have her prosthetic leg"

“It was a fantastic event with a wonderful audience who really helped to support the girls, families had made banners to help cheer on their girl and it really helped add to the atmosphere of the night. The girls worked so hard and were an absolute pleasure to work with and we all wish Jess the very best of luck in Miss England this September.”
