Nottingham Contemporary warmly welcomes families with free entrance to our exhibition, our cafe and our family activities. Free drop in artist-led activities 1pm - 4pm every Saturday and Sunday, or pick up a free Play and Learn kit to take around the exhibition it will give you and your child lots of ideas for enjoying the art together.

Celebrate in Sherwood At The Sherwood Visitor Centre
This weekend meet colourful costumed characters and hear tales of daring exploits from mediaeval archers, mischief makers and retired outlaws.
‘Have a Go Archery’ is fun for all ages, as you try your hand at longbow archery in the shadow of the world-famous ‘Major Oak’.
Enjoy a meal at Robin’s favourite restaurant ‘The Forest Table’, a walk through the beautiful national nature reserve and get a taste of Hollywood with the new exhibition of props and ‘behind the scenes’ materials from the movie ‘Robin Hood’.
Admission is free, £3 for parking, £2 for ‘Have a Go Archery’.

We have good old fashioned childrens games, such as pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey, egg and spoon race, kids tombola, a 12 foot trampoline to bounce the hours away, competitions, face painting, along side modern activities like a street dance lesson all washed down with jelly, ice cream, cakes, sweets and squash.

Calling all budding Robin Hoods and Maid Marians aged 8 years and over. Round off Robin Hood Month by taking part in this special archery challenge underneath the Major Oak.

Three lucky entrants from each category: 8-11 years, 12-14 years, and 14 years and above will be drawn from the hat.
