Huge investment interest has been shown after the 2nd Invest in Nottingham Day held last week. Over 240 influential business leaders attended the event last week, which hoped to showcase the best of Nottingham. The delegates were taken on a tour of the city which has seen considerable change over the last few years in a bid to attract new investment.
Some of Nottingham’s areas that were on show included the new Southside business district, development land at Alliance Boots , science parks and key regeneration areas such the Hub rail station project, Eastside, Waterfront Plaza and the ng2 business park.
Potential investors also attended the opening of The Portal, a 90,000 sq ft fibre-optic data centre, and they were also taken round the new offices of Crytek, one of the worlds leading games companies who have just moved to the city.
One of the potential investors, Simon Parsons, of London-based property investors and developers Pyle Owen Group commented ‘The most important thing for me is the networking opportunities. There are a lot of big hitters here.’
The event was a collaboration between Nottingham's public and private sectors, with around 40 businesses showing their support. Following on from the success of last year's 1st Invest in Nottingham day, this year's event also benefited from publicity at the international MIPIM property show in Cannes and a launch for London investors last month.
The day helped to demonstrate that Nottingham is an attractive location for potential investors across a whole range of sectors which can only help to boost the local economy and reduce unemployment.
