Nottingham's Guide To Weekend Events

30 July 2010

Description:

That Friday feeling is upon us, so here at Guide2Nottingham we like to offer our users an overview of what’s on in Nottingham this weekend. From beach life to kite making, from powernoise to the pride festival, we’ve got it covered and more!

Why not stop off at the Beach this weekend in the Market Square. That’s right The Old Market Square has been transformed into a city seaside complete with sand, giant paddling pool and fairground rides - this is the perfect way to keep children (and adults!) entertained during the summer. Nottingham Riviera will be on for the whole weekend and will have a whole host of activities suitable for everyone.

On Friday evening why not enjoy outstanding theatre performed at Nottingham Castle.

Oddsocks Productions brings the ever popular, ever hilarious, ever magical, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' with wonderful acoustic music, hilarious hunting dogs and woodland spirits that may well be power-jumping their way through the magical forest as tales of a young couple hopelessly in love, another in denial, a royal couple to be who can't wait to be together - and the fairy King and Queen who hate each other's guts.

If you fancy something with a little more bass, head off to Detonate at Stealth featuring Grooverider, Doctor P, S.P.Y, Kromestar, Strom & more. Tickets are available to buy here.

On Saturday there will be Kite and Mini Windmill making at Greens Mill & Science Museum for the kids for only 50p.

Also between 11 – 5 pm there is the Nottingham Children's Festival Art Competition and Exhibition at Nottingham Castle.

Why not draw a fabulous picture or make a stunning sculpture inspired by your favourite folk heroes and fairy tales - from Robin Hood to Tinkerbell? Enter your artwork in the Festival exhibition and win a prize. Age groups: 0-3yrs, 4-6yrs, 7-9yrs, 10-12yrs. Entries taken all day. Winners announced at 3pm.

Or why not try something a little more adventurous? At Guide2Nottingham we have a special offer of 20% off per person at Go Ape! Sherwood Pines Click here for more details.

Nottingham Pride Festival makes its return this month with the city's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender/ transsexual communities celebrating life in the city. This year's festival takes place on Saturday 31st July at the Forest Recreation Ground (the Goose Fair site).Nottingham Pride has an extra two hours of FREE celebration and entertainment with activities for the whole family running from 12 noon until 8pm.

On Saturday evening if your after something a little more alternative Combichrist will be live at The Rescue Rooms from 6pm. Tickets are available here.
