Description:
Nottingham City Council's Big Summer Clean 2010 campaign will run until Monday August 30 2010. The summer long event gives citizens across Nottingham the chance to give their views on clean priorities at a neighbourhood level and so far has seen the launch of new services including the new Clean Teams and engagement schemes such as My Street.
During The BIG Tidy Up citizens can put something back into the community by improving a much used public open space through helping it look as clean and green as possible.
No experience in volunteering is needed, just plenty of enthusiasm. All volunteers will receive a full brief on the day.
Andy Vaughan- Director for Environmental Services at the City Council, said: "Volunteering is a great way to get involved in your community by making a positive impact. It not only affects our community for the better, but also benefits the individual as well. It is a perfect way to give something back to society and feel a sense of achievement.
"One of the most rewarding aspects of volunteering is the sense of accomplishment for finishing a task that not only yourself but the whole community can benefit from, whether it is a cleaner open space or a brighter flower bed. There are also many professional benefits to be reaped from volunteering as it is a good way of getting noticed for having drive and dedication.'
To become a volunteer please email Nottingham City Council at environment@nottinghamcity.gov.uk or call Natalie Toms on 0115 8763377.
