Description:
A new number aimed at people who need urgent healthcare when cases are not 999 emergencies will be trialed in Nottingham following its trail in the North East.
NHS County Durham and Darlington Primary Care Trusts are currently piloting the scheme.
The 111 number is aimed at people who need help quickly but when the situation is not life-threatening.
Trained call advisers will be able to put people directly in touch with the service they need such as NHS direct, emergency dentists and pharmacies.
