From 16 - 18 September, Nottingham's Old Market Square will host a free festival. The Night Of Festivals is a unique and exciting celebration of British and Latin American Cultures.
This colourful and dynamic event will bring the streets of Nottingham to life, with vibrant Latin American street arts, light displays, fabulous costumes and live music.
ArtReach, a renowned cultural events company, working with Nottingham City Council has devised this fun, three-day extravaganza, suitable for all ages.
The event starts on Thursday 16 September from 4pm with the opening of Brazilian artist Laura Belém's interactive art installation 'Night of St John' surrounded by 745 flags with audio montage based on the artist's memories of the Brazilian festival of the same name.
On Friday 17th and from dusk the area surrounding the Old Market Square will come to life with a carnival procession.
Later on Friday evening the Colombian salsa band, Conjunto Sabroso, will get people on their feet. A range of special guest performers will keep Nottingham entertained on the main festival stage.
On Saturday, the celebrations will continue with surprise performances throughout the day and an evening fusion of cutting edge Latin music and contemporary digital artworks.
Nottingham Contemporary will also be involved in the festival. International composer and film-maker Michael Nyman will be premiering his new short moving image piece set in Mexico, throughout the duration of the Festival.
The New Art Exchange will present a Latin Programme featuring photographic and video portraits of Latin American Women in England by John Perivolaris, opening 13 September.
