Description:
Cuadros (the Spanish word for ‘pictures’) is a brand new art gallery, specialising in contemporary art. The gallery focuses on bringing young local artists to the public’s attention.
We registered 09/09/09, with a simple concept which was to “source, display and sell contemporary, modern artwork at reasonable prices.” The majority of the works are originals but we also sell sculptures and signed limited prints.
I want to create a gallery link with local artists. Nottingham is awash with some truly exceptional artists and rightly we should celebrate our very own Nottingham home gown talent. I promote some truly exceptional artists, notably the weird but wonderfully charming works by Jon Burgerman plus the graffiti boys behind Urban Canvas, whose works you may see in various locations around the city.
As a 7-year art industry aficionado under a more corporate brief, I’m now able to represent artists to my own taste. All the artists we promote have been personally selected and although they each create their own distinct style, they all work well together in the gallery as a group, bridging the gap between traditional portraits and that of a more modern cutting edge fashion of art.
Until now, I feel artist would probably struggle outside London; however it seems a new dawn is approaching with Nottingham names finally getting recognition worldwide.
By offering wall space to Nottingham artists I believe in, and by displaying them along side works such as that of the infamous stencil urban artist ‘Banksy’ I hope to not only build upon the steady art scene put also give notoriety and credence to some up and coming Nottingham stars. The display would not be complete without some internationally renowned names such as Italian artist Zoe Lacchei, Ed Chapman with his unusual mosaic compositions, British urban artist Anthony Micallef and the new wave phenomena that is Stuart Semple. We are currently the only gallery in Nottingham to exhibit and sell works by Banksy, Semple and Micallef.
Very few galleries outside London have been able to attract such artists which in turn is great for our city.
